TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – With National Girls and Women in Sports Day approaching on February 2, Alabama Athletics has planned a week-long celebration leading up to the day, starting Wednesday, Jan. 26. This celebration will also serve as a segue into the Crimson Tide’s 50th anniversary of Title IX commemoration with a list of opportunities and events to come.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is an occasion dedicated to honoring the achievements of female athletes, coaches and leaders and highlights the power of sports to unlock the limitless potential of women and girls.
Fans can follow the conversation on social media with the hashtags #RollTide and #NGWSD. The Alabama women’s basketball team will celebrate NGWSD during its January 30 home game against Missouri. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at rolltide.com/tickets.
In addition, as part of Alabama Athletics’ celebration of NGWSD, the Crimson Tide Foundation has set a goal to raise $50,000 for the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund – the annual scholarship fund for Alabama Athletics.
To aid in the Tide’s goal, the Alabama ONE Aspire Foundation will match the first $25,000 raised for the Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund between January 26 and February 2 on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
