DULUTH, GA (December 22, 2021) – The holidays were brighter for children and mothers in need thanks to the generous donations made to Georgia United Foundation’s 31st annual Wish Tree program.
Wish Tree provides gifts to children and mothers in need in Georgia through donations made by members and community partners. This year, 1,284 wishes were granted to deserving children and mothers in 10 counties.
The ongoing challenges of COVID-19 inspired the foundation to continue to offer a virtual donation option so the community could participate from the comfort of their home. Donors were able to select the charity location and the requested gifts from online shopping lists.
Donations were shipped directly to the area branch location and the local Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and other similar charitable organizations delivered the gifts in time for the holidays.
“Both 2020 and 2021 presented challenges to many of our communities, but we wanted to continue serving children and mothers in need. By continuing the online donation shopping, it allowed members and nonmembers to participate and safely shop from their homes. We’re really thankful for all who donated and made a difference during this holiday season. Thank you for helping us spread cheer throughout this holiday season,” shared Georgia United Credit Union Business Development Officer, Liz Riffert.
Since the program’s inception, over 32,000 gifts have been donated to children and mothers in need, thanks to the generosity of the community.
