August 28, 2024 _ Redstone Federal Credit Union® recognized five individuals nominated by its members and the public for making a positive impact in their communities at an award reception Tuesday, Aug. 27.
These individuals, honored as ‘Community Champions,’ are selfless community builders who actively work to address the needs of others. Redstone first launched the initiative in spring of 2023, receiving more than 100 nominations of members who go above and beyond in their communities. The number of nominations doubled this year to more than 200.
This year’s Community Champions give their time, talents and resources to enhance the lives of others. A documentary-style video was created for each recipient to showcase their work.
Joe Newberry, Redstone’s President and CEO, celebrated the recipients. “These members truly live our philosophy of ‘People Helping People.’ They each saw a need in their community, and they set out to address it. We honor them for their dedication and support them in their efforts.
Those selected as Community Champions are:
• Kaye Bough, Scottsboro, provides equine-assisted therapy for veterans and first responders who suffer from anxiety.
• Robin Kramer, Harvest, provides day programs that teach important life skills to adults with special needs.
• Janet M’mbaha-Zarnesky, Huntsville, offers basic tennis skills and health education to children from underserved communities in Huntsville at no cost.
