McCoy Federal aids New Beginnings of Central Florida

McCoy Federal donated to New Beginnings of Central Florida (NBCF) to strengthen those overcome by homelessness and poverty. NBCF was formed in 2007 when the founders discovered Clermont had no shelters or aid to prepare the homeless for economic independence. A small team of volunteer case workers implemented daily mandatory programs of education, private counseling, and on-the-job training. They also guided clients through the referral process for housing, utilities, health care, food, and clothing.

As of 2020, New Beginnings has grown to 25 staff members and 1,000 volunteers; established social services locations, food pantries, and thrift stores; acquired two homes that were converted into shelters; built a 96-unit resident complex; and graduated 78% of residents to steady employment and their own housing.

McCoy Federal Credit Union embodies the Credit Union charter of “People Helping People” through sponsorships to help those in need and dedicated service to their Members. Beginning in 1954, McCoy Federal has grown to 13 branches assisting over 65,000 Members to achieve their financial goals and dreams.
