McCoy Federal Credit Union and partners of 27 Community Connection sponsored Tour de Cure 5K: Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida. Hosted by The American Diabetes Association, the Orlando venue raised an astounding $900,000 to advance research for the cause and treatment of diabetes.
The virtual running, walking and biking event connected participants across the nation through
live Facebook parties. To generate excitement, the venues mailed t-shirts to participants, held opening ceremonies, and featured streaming videos. Funds raised fuel diabetes research, education, and patient advocacy. Donations also aid the passing of bills—such as the Affordable Insulin for All Act—to ensure low income patients obtain this life-saving medicine.
