HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Oct. 31, 2024) – For the ninth consecutive year, Redstone Federal Credit Union honored the community’s first responders with a special meal and appreciation gifts.
The First Responders Appreciation Luncheons were held to serve both Alabama and Tennessee communities, offering meals on-site and packed to go. Redstone’s initiative aligns with Congress’s designation of October 28th as National First Responders Day in 2017. Since then, the credit union has served thousands of meals to firefighters, police officers, EMTs and all who respond first on the scene of a traumatic situation.
Deemed as one of Redstone’s “favorite events of the year,” this gathering is a testament to the organization’s philosophy of ‘People Helping People.’ At it’s inaugural appreciation event, Redstone served 119 meals. This year, that number surged to over 1,000 meals which were served to more than a dozen different agencies throughout North Alabama and Middle Tennessee.
“Serving meals to our first responders at our annual appreciation event is a small but meaningful way to honor their unwavering dedication and sacrifice. We are grateful for their service and proud to support those who protect our communities every day,” says Joe Newberry, Redstone’s President and CEO.
