Tropical Financial’s Get Beyond Money Community is honored by Credit Union National Association

Tropical Financial Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial institution, was honored at the Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) 2020 Excellence in Marketing & Business Development Awards.

These awards recognize outstanding new marketing and business development programs with potential for application across the industry.

Tropical Financial Credit Union’s Get Beyond Money community took home the award for Excellence for Strategic Planning. This category highlights the work of the strategic marketer or business development professional. TFCU was the only credit union with assets above $500 million to win this prestigious award.

“Our entire marketing team is thrilled to be recognized for Get Beyond Money,” said Amy McGraw, vice president of marketing and chief experience officer. “Our goal from the start was to build a community, not just a one-off campaign, that forced people to think differently about their hard-earned money.  Based on the results and feedback so far, we think it’s really resonating with the market.”

The Get Beyond Money community debunks traditional money management advice and focuses on a more modern paradigm: Prioritize what’s important in your life without letting your wallet be a deterrent.

The centerpiece, surrounding the movement is a website (www.GetBeyondMoney.com) with free resources such as a Get Beyond Money Savings Quiz, videos and real advice from people who have inspired the community. They also offer one free Total Financial Review with a Get Beyond Money Coach, for those who are interested.  The credit union continues to run a digital campaign and TV spots to help promote awareness and lead people to learn more.  The credit union also made donations to the American Red Cross and local healthcare workers combating coronavirus for each person who signed up to join the community.
