GTE Financial brightens holidays for local families

WinSouth Credit Union contributes to hugely successful Toys for Tots campaign

December 27th, 2019472 This year, WinSouth Credit Union helped the Marine Toys for Tots campaign in DeKalb distribute toys to more than 1,000 families from more than 400 families. In fact, the credit union became one of the toy drive's top fundraisers of the year, according to a Times-Journal article.  This wasn't an easy year for the drive. Suncoast credit union acquires Appollo Bank

December 25th, 20190113 Suncoast Credit Union recently announced the signing of an agreement to purchase Miami-based Apollo Bank. The deal is the largest bank acquisition by a credit union in U.S. history and the 12th acquisition of its kind in Florida, according to a Florida Weekly article.  Apollo Bank is a leading community bank in Florida that is locally operated and owned by shareholders with $746 million in assets and about 100 employees. Georgia's Own Credit Union contributes to $13.5 million #GivingTuesday donation

December 23rd, 20193107 Georgia's Own Credit Union recently acted as a corporate sponsor in a #GivingTuesday campaign that resulted in a $13.5 million donation. The campaign, led by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, joined together nonprofits, businesses, media partners and thousands of individual Georgians to lead a statewide generosity movement which generated 73 percent more donations than last year. Birmingham Chapter donates more than $8K to Southeastern Credit Union Foundation

December 23rd, 2019086 The Birmingham Chapter of credit unions donated $8,400 during the group's recent Christmas party. The chapter collected the money both through its own efforts and through efforts by the Birmingham Chapter Young Professionals Group through the year.
