Georgia United Credit’s Executive Women’s Day recently brought successful metro Atlanta women together to discuss women’s roles in leadership positions.
The day is meant to act as a celebration of the accomplishments of women in metro Atlanta and is held in conjunction with the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, which is part of the PGA’s Champions Tour, according to an article in the Gwinnett Daily Post.
Among other lessons, key speaker and Northeast Georgia Health System CEO Carol Burrell touched on the “growth mindset” necessary to achieve success.
“(Growth) mindset is a psychological concept that started in education and has ventured over into business,” Burrell said. “A fixed mindset says that you’ve got a certain level of intelligence and a certain level of talent and that’s going to be your path. A growth mindset says that no matter your level of intelligence is, no matter what your level of talent is, you can always take risks, lean into (a job) and do better. You have to embrace that growth culture — embrace that mindset. And when those failures happen or when that promotion doesn’t come along, think about what you can learn from that and how you can take that and use it for whatever your next step is.”
