Peach State Federal Credit Union elects new chairperson to board

Peach State Federal Credit Union recently announced the election of Dr. Keith Everson as Chairperson of the Board following the credit union’s annual meeting on April 15.

Dr. Keith Everson

“Keith has been a valued member of our board since he joined 15 years ago,” said Marshall Boutwell, president and CEO of Peach State. “He has helped shape the future of the credit union, guiding us through significant growth and change during his 19 years of service.”

Everson joined Peach State’s board in 2004. He previously held the title of vice chairperson.

Everson is the executive director of the Northeast Georgia Regional Education Service Agency, a resource that provides educational services to the 14 school districts in the northeast Georgia area. He has more than 30 years of experience in public school service and has been a member of Peach State for more than 30 years.

Everson’s first significant experience with the credit union was as a college student who needed $250 to complete the spring quarter of his freshman year. Peggy Kilgroe, Peach State’s first full-time (and still active) employee, approved him for the $250 loan.

Everson said that kindness has stuck with him for more than 30 years.

“I had no job during the school year, but intended to work over the summer to repay a loan,” he said. “I believe int he credit union philosophy of people helping people and was grateful for the opportunity to join the Board of Directors. I am also grateful to my board colleagues for trusting me to represent them and Peach State as their chair.”

Everson’s appointment came after the previous chairperson, Rick Davis, stepped down from that position. Davis had served on the credit uion’s board since 1999 and held the role of chairperson since 2013.

“We are very grateful for Rick’s contributions and leadership as our chairperson,” Boutwell said. “He has helped shape the future of the credit union, guiding us through significant growth and change during his 19 years of service.”

Dr. Linda Anderson, who previously served as secretary and treasurer, is now vice chairperson. Robert Bradford has taken on the role of secretary and treasurer.
