Peach State Federal Credit Union to sponsor high school students in national cooking competition

Peach State Federal Credit Union will sponsor five high school culinary students on their journey to a national competition at the end of the month.

The Meadowcreek High School students earned top honors in the 2018 Hospitality Foundation of Georgia ProStart State Championship. Their teacher, Chef Simone Byron, won the 2018 ProStart Teacher of the Year honor.

Byron and her students will represent Georgia at the national competition in Providence, RI, from April 27 until April 29. The students received some financial support from the school for the trip, but needed sponsorship to cover the remaining expenses. Earlier in April, the students presented their plans to Peach State’s executive team and formally requested a sponsorship from the credit union.

“The students do an excellent job catering for the credit union’s monthly board meetings under Chef Byron,” said Peach State President and CEO Marshall Boutwell. “We’re so pleased to be a part of this important step in their education. We know that they will make us proud.”
