MIRAMAR, Fla. – Tropical Financial Credit Union announced that Nicole Phillips has joined the credit union’s marketing department as Digital and Social Media Content Strategist. She is responsible for creating compelling content to share throughout Tropical Financials’ digital and social media platforms and engaging a variety of online audiences.
Prior to joining Tropical Financial, Phillips served five years as Marketing Manager for another Broward-based credit union. She created and oversaw strategic marketing campaigns and was responsible for internal communications and community outreach. Phillips started in the credit union industry in 2015 as a marketing specialist for a South Florida institution that mainly served the Broward public school system.
Phillips is an active member of the Urban League of Broward County Young Professionals Network. She is also a member of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) having served as vice president of the Broward Chapter and president of the Young Professionals Group. Phillips earned her graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Florida and received post-graduate certificates in digital marketing from the Florida Atlantic University.
Phillips replaces Kara Yaquinta who was promoted to Digital Growth Strategist and is responsible for driving new business to Tropical Financial through digital marketing programs. She manages the award-winning Get Beyond Money campaign started in 2019 to offer people judgment free advice on managing their personal finances and hosts a podcast to help get the word out.
Recently, Yaquinta was named a Credit Union Rock Star by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). She is a board member of LSCU’s Young Professional Group and chairs the awareness committee.
