Dade County Federal Credit Union community liaison wins Volunteer Impact Award

Jessica Vasquez A community liaison at Dade County Federal Credit Union, was recently presented with the Volunteer Impact Award by Year Up South Florida.

Year Up South Florida is a program offering an intensive one-year program for college students aged 18-24, combining professional coaching, hands-on skill development and internships at some of America’s top companies, according to a CUToday article. Vasquez is a dedicated volunteer for the program who led several financial literacy workshops for Year Up interns.

“I worked with Year Up students who were earning some of their first paychecks and have an immediate need to open accounts and start managing their money,” Vasquez told CUToday. “It’s been amazing because they are very intelligent and want to learn to manage their money, build their credit and understand their finances.”
