BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — ēCO Credit Union and the ēCO Credit Union Foundation both strongly believe in the importance of education. In March of 2022, ēCO Credit Union awarded two $2,500 A.L. Bratcher Scholarships, while the ēCO Credit Union Foundation awarded one $2,500 ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship.
The A.L. Bratcher Scholarship has been awarded to high school seniors since 2011. The 2022-2023 A.L. Bratcher Scholarship recipients are Abigail Snyder and Ava Vansant. Snyder is a senior at Calera High School. In addition to excelling academically, she is also involved in a variety of honor societies, clubs, sports, and many philanthropic and service organizations. She plans to attend Florida State University and study Political Science. Vansant will graduate from Shelby County High School in May. She has maintained an impressive 3.59 GPA, while also actively participating in extracurricular activities and volunteering in the community. She plans to attend Jefferson State Community College to pursue a degree in business and then move to a larger university to pursue a degree in aquatic biology.
The ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship was established in 2017 to help adults returning to school to change career paths or improve in their fields. Katherine DeVaughn is the 2022-2023 ēCO Credit Union Foundation Scholarship recipient. She currently works as the Principal’s Secretary at Oak Mountain High School. She plans to attend Jefferson State Community College to pursue a degree in Office Administration.

Applications for the 2022-2023 scholarship cycle will be available in December.
