Florida A&M University Federal Credit Union (FAMUFCU) Board of Directors is excited to announce that Ms. Alexandra Currie was selected to serve as the next President. Mrs. Sheilah Montgomery, who has over 45 years of credit union experience, served as the FAMUFCU President/CEO over the last four (4) years and will continue to serve as a part/time Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mrs. Montgomery has done a remarkable job over these past four (4) years in accomplishing so many positive and impactful outcomes with our members, small minority businesses, the PPP loan programs with the support of our regulators. “This is a legacy credit union; it is a great privilege to work at FAMUFCU,” said Mrs. Montgomery. She added that her successful tenure was due to the FAMUFCU Board of Directors, members, NCUA, Local Government Federal Credit Union, Inclusiv’, AACUC, Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Office of Economic Vitality, United Solutions Company, the Community Chambers, and Local Officials who were very engaged and instrumental in the success of this credit Union. “I am elated Ms. Alexandria Currie will be joining our credit union family. She is well qualified, forward thinking, and innovative,” said Mrs. Montgomery.
Ms. Currie brings a great deal of knowledge and expertise in addressing the innerworkings of the credit union industry. As such, she completed operational efficiency reviews for credit unions ranging from $15M-$800M in assets, Lead project management teams, ensuring projects were efficiently implemented to companies across the country. Prior to joining the Florida A & M University Federal Credit, Ms. Currie held the position of Director of Training and Implementations at United Solutions Company, a Credit Union Service Organization.
She led 10+ core conversion projects to Fiserv DataSafe and XP2 platforms, Lead 5+ credit union merger projects, Created and implemented a training software module, developed a credit union specific CRM, Marketing Tool and Loan Pricing Calculator, and networked with credit unions and industry executives to remain abreast of best practices, data trends and new product developments.
Mr. Lorenzo Alexander, FAMUFCU Board Chair, noted that Ms. Currie’s commitment to member service, financial and technology advancement were key factors to build upon the foundation and continue the success that will move the credit union to the next level.

Ms. Currie received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting & Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration from Florida State University, is Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute and is a Six Sigma Black Belt Professional.
