Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union donates $10K to Children’s Miracle Network following annual tournament

Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union recently raised $10,000 for local children’s hospitals while treating area first responders to a well-deserved day of golf.

On Oct. 11, about 60 golfers from sponsoring agencies came to Southbridge Golf Course in Savannah to participate in Georgia Heritage’s 10th Annual Chip in Fore Children’s Miracle Network Golf Tournament. The day included 18 holes of golf, lunch and an awards reception. All proceeds benefitted Children’s Miracle Network, which helps its affiliated hospitals cover the cost of treatment for sick and injured kids in their care.

“Many of us at Georgia Heritage have kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews,” said Dale Taratuta, president and CEO of Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union. “This year, we’ll be donating $10,000 to Children’s Miracle Network, thanks to the generosity of our golfers and sponsors.”

Among the tournament golfers were some of Savannah’s finest. Each year, Georgia Heritage encourages businesses to donate to CMN to sponsor golf teams made up of emergency personnel. This year, 23 first responders were treated to a day of golf, food and fun.

“These brave men and women risk their lives to keep our families, friends and neighbors safe,” Taratuta said. “We were honored to give these emergency service personnel such a fun day while simultaneously raising money for Children’s Miracle Network.”

Premium sponsors to the Chip in Fore CMN tournament included Savannah Postal Credit Union, National Gypsum, Coastal Empire Credit Union Chapter, Corelation, Inc., Member Wealth Management, First Data, CUNA Mutual Group, Alogent and Memorial Health Credit Union.

This year’s first-place trophy was claimed by Grainger Nissan’s team made up of Grant Deloach, Gregory Zupfer, Jamie Mackenzie and Scott Hunt. A team from CORE Credit Union made up of Bob Clampett, Charles Whalen, Wes Wilkes and Ashley Norris placed second.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with this year’s Chip in Fore CMN Tournament,” Taratuta said. “At Georgia Heritage, we take pride in each donation we send to Children’s Miracle Network. We’re so thankful to all of the sponsors, golfers and community members who made our 10th annual tournament a success.”
