(Columbus, Ga.) – Kinetic Credit Union awarded the Ronald J. Mahoney Kinetic scholarships to two rising college students in our area on Thursday, May 19, 2022.
The two recipients are Elvin Ebby from Columbus High School and Tanner Nelson from Columbus High School. Elvin plans to attend Georgia Institute of Technology while majoring in Computer Science. Tanner plans to attend the University of Georgia while majoring in Biology/Pre-med.
“Elvin and Tanner are dedicated students and deserving recipients of the Ronald J. Mahoney Kinetic scholarship,” said Mark Littleton, President and CEO. “Mr. Mahoney was passionate about community, education and investing in our youth. Both Elvin and Tanner are wonderful examples of being well-rounded and will no doubt be community leaders in the future.”
Each recipient received a scholarship for $2,500. The winners were chosen for demonstrating their commitment to excellence and service in academic studies and community involvement.
The scholarships are named in honor of former Kinetic Chairman Ron Mahoney, who died in January 2016. Mr. Mahoney served on the Board of Directors for 18 years and was Chairman from 2007 – 2016.
