LGE Community Credit Union team members recently surprised a local high school student in front of a classroom full of her peers to share some big news — she’d just won the credit union’s $5,000 Community Service Scholarship.
Laura Key, a senior from Walton High School, was also later recognized at a Cobb County School District board meeting, according to a Marietta Daily Journal article.
High school seniors from around Cobb County submitted applications for the LGE Community Services Scholarship to their respective principals. Each of the 16 high school principals then hand-selected a nominee from their school.
“Every single nomination was impressive and made our job very challenging,” Scott Brooks, LGE’s vice president of Business Development and Marketing, said in the Marietta Daily Journal article. “However, it is clear each of these students have made a deep impact on their community through dedication, hard work and servant leadership.”
