ORLANDO, FL (December 2021) – McCoy Federal Credit Union is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. Since 2008, McCoy’s Operations Team has spearheaded initiatives at Lancaster Elementary School (LES), an underserved public school located just outside of downtown Orlando, to assist students and their families. This includes two annual events — a School Supply Drive in August and the Lancaster Christmas Project in December — that McCoy team members look forward to participating in every year.
The need during the 2021 holiday season was larger than any year to date. So the McCoy team collected donations, shopped for toys and clothing, and spent countless hours wrapping and organizing gifts. Through the generosity of McCoy’s employees, as well as community partners and vendors, 99 LES students received a new jacket, two outfits, pajamas, socks, underwear, and several toys under their trees on Christmas Day.
In the LES monthly newsletter, Principal Natasha Pender wrote of the Lancaster Christmas Project, “The love placed in every package is received by many grateful parents, excited that they will be able to have something special under their tree for their children. This act of kindness and thoughtfulness allows our parents to focus on the academic success of their child and excellence in education we are all striving for.”
