Peach State Federal Credit Union sponsors Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival

Peach State Federal Credit Union will sponsor the Georgia Mountain Storytelling Festival taking place at the Union County Schools Fine Arts Center in Blairsville, Ga., from April 12 until April 13.

GMSF provides opportunities for an under-served audience to develop a cultural intelligence through the arts of listening to and telling stories. Participants will engage with the voices of Appalachia and will attend workshops to help with understanding.

Featured speakers will include Adam Booth, Claudia Schmidt and Bobby Norfolk.

GMSF provides free admission to all students age 18 and under.

“It’s inspiring to see high school students enthralled by storytellers, so much so that they put down their phones, look up and listen,” said Ruth Looper, Ph.D., co-director of the festival and professor of English at Young Harris College. “Sponsors such as Peach state help make these kinds of transformative experiences possible.

Peach State Federal Credit Union was founded by educators more than 55 years ago.

“Sponsorship like this are an integral part of maintaining our connection to that foundation,” said Ryan Horn, senior vice president of business development at Peach State. “We’re excited to support this important event and to help keep the tradition of storytelling alive.”
