Forsyth County recently cut the ribbon on an innovative financial education space, featuring a Delta Georgia United Credit Union branch.
The Junior Achievement Discovery Center, a 25,000-square-foot facility on the Alliance Academy for Innovation campus in Cumming, is designed to train students from all over northeast Georgia in financial literacy, according to a Forsyth County News article.
The space, which was made possible by a $3.5 million endowment from philanthropists Mike and Lynn Cottrell, gives students the chance to act out a game of life on a grand scale. The students will come for a day to hold a job at different businesses in the center including Zaxby’s RaceTrac, Delta, Northside Hopsital and Georgia United Credit Union. They’ll learn different apsects of financial responsibility in an educational setting, according to the Forsyth County News article.
