Hospital workers have been doing so much for our community that SRP Federal Credit Union wanted to do something special for them this holiday season. They work hard to keep us healthy every day but especially since the advent of Covid-19, and now its variants, Delta and Omicron.
Last year, SRP began a special program called Random Acts of Kindness where we randomly go out into the community and “pay it forward” by showing an act of kindness to individuals. There are so many people in the CSRA, particularly over the past couple of years, that have needed a little extra help. As part of this program, we have handed out gift cards inside grocery stores to help people pay for their groceries and gone on a college campus to give students gifts cards to help them buy whatever they needed so they could stay in school.
For the holidays, we wanted to show area hospital workers how much we appreciated them; not just the doctors and nurses, but also the staff who keep the facilities clean and the lab people who keep test results moving for the patients – every job matters. We also wanted to do something for the rural areas as well as the larger, suburban areas so they knew their work was not forgotten.
Beginning the day after Thanksgiving through December 19th, SRP was able to provide the following to some employees at our community hospitals and medical providers:
University Hospital (Augusta): 1000 employees provided meal tickets
Barnwell Family Medicine/Barnwell Pediatrics/ Barnwell Sheriff’s Office: 106 boxed lunches delivered to employees
Edgefield County Hospital: 100 boxed lunches delivered to employees
University Hospital (McDuffie): 88 Chick-Fil-A gift cards distributed to employees
Aiken Regional Medical Centers: 160 Firehouse Subs gift cards distributed to night and weekend employees
