The staff of United 1st Federal Credit Union’s Blackshear and Waycross branches recently raised $4,701 for the Southeast Cancer Unit at its annual fundraising walk.
That surpassed last year’s donation by nearly $600.
The Southeast Cancer Unit, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides counseling, support and respite care to their friends and neighbors diagnosed with cancer in Brantley, Pierce and Ware counties. Each year, the group holds a walk to raise funds.
This year’s fundraising efforts reached $101,000.
The branches sold homemade ribs, chicken and funnel cakes from their booth at the Walk to the 29 teams and 104 survivors present. United 1st was also able to donate funds from its Valentine basket raffle and t-shirt sales earlier in the year.
