China blamed the United States on Monday for tensions over trade between the two nations, according to a Reuters article.
China’s comments came after U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that China would take down trade barriers. He also expressed optimism that both sides could resolve the issue through talks. But China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told reporter at a regular news briefing on Monday that wasn’t the case.
“Under the current circumstances, both sides even more cannot have talks on these issues,” Shuang said according to Reuters. “The United States with on ehand wields the threat of sanctions, and at the same time says they are willing to talk. I’m not sure who the United States is putting on this act for.”
