Peach State Federal Credit Union has committed to donating $5,000 to Walker County Schools’ Launch Academy over the next five years.
The Launch program will receive $1,000 each year through 2022 from the credit union.
“We were founded by educators in 1961 and we honor that foundation through our commitment to education,” said Marshall Boutwell, Peach State’s president and CEO. “That commitment is reflected in contributions to programs such as the Launch Academy, our support of Teacher of the Year banquets throughout our service area, and our annual scholarship program.”
Launch was established in 2018 to support Walker County High School students participating in dual enrollment at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC). The program provides students transportation from their “home” school to GNTC, lunch on campus and a laptop. Dual enrollment covers all the tuition and fees without counting toward their HOPE grant eligibility. The program saves students an estimated $2,100 each year.
“We are thrilled with this commitment of support for our students,” said Damon Raines, superintendent of Walker County Schools. “This donation will provide ongoing assistance to the students and the program overall, helping to ensure its long-term success.”
