Associated Credit Union will soon act as a local sponsor for a school supply giveaway set to benefit 5,000 kids in Carrollton.
The giveaway will be the 14th hosted by local power company Southwire and will take place June 14 in the Southwire corporate parking lot on Dixie Street from 9 a.m. until noon.
Volunteers will give out supplies including crayons, wide-ruled paper, pencils, glue sticks, erasers, rulers and blunt scissors for students entering kindergarten through third grade, according to a Griffin Daily News article. Students going into fourth through 12th grade will receive supplies including college-ruled paper, pens, a three-pronged folder, highlighters, dividers and note cards.
“The supplies remove much of th eburden from not only parents who would otherwuise have to pay for pensils, rulers and paper, but from teachers who sometimes foot the bill for their classrooms,” according to the Griffin Daily News article.
