Associated and Georgia United credit unions will both open store fronts in an innovative campus designed to create an immersive educational experience for local middle school students.
The Mike and Lynn Cottrell Junior Acheivement Discovery Center at North Georgia is under construction and set to begin serving students this fall, according to a Calhoun Times article.
The Discovery Center will be the third in Georgia and the first to combine both JA BizTown and JA Finance Park — two experiential simulations that allow middle school students to gain real-life understandings of how businesses and finances operate.
“We are thrilled to be able to expand the impact of this relevant, authentic and experiential learning to more students across the state,” Jack Harris, president and CEO of Junior Achievement of Georgia, said in the Calhoun Times article. “This facility creates an opportunity for us to enhance existing partnerships, and ignite new ones in a community that is engaged in deepening their students’ education experience.”
