First Florida Credit Union to expand in Northeast Florida starting with Tamaya Branch grand opening in mid-October

First Florida Credit Union is moving forward with plans to open three new branches in Northeast Florida.

This regional expansion officially begins with this month’s grand opening of the credit union’s 17th statewide branch located at 3280 Tamaya Boulevard — just east of Beach Boulevard’s intersection with Kernan Boulevard.

First Florida Credit Union has also purchased property near Atlanta Boulevard and Girvin Road as well as in St. Johns County’s Durbin Creek area. Those branches are scheduled to open during 2021.

The expansion plans are designed to help the credit union better serve existing members in these specific neighborhoods while growing and gaining awareness in the Jacksonville market, said Bent Lister, president and CEO of First Florida Credit Union.

“First Florida Credit Union is thrilled to be opening our seventh branch in Northeast Florida, with numbers eight and nine on the near horizon,” Lister said. “These new locations will offer close-to-home convenience for our Jacksonville members as well as valuable new banking opportunities for others.”

A hybrid grand opening event for the new Tamaya branch will kick off on Oct. 28 and run through Oct. 31. The celebration will offer in-person and virtual options, allowing attendees to stop by the new branch during operating hours, make advance persona appointments at FirstFlorida.org/appointments, or pre-register for virtual tours at FirstFlorida.org/tamaya-branch-grand-opening. All options offer access to special grand opening offers and register-to-win promotions. All in-branch activities will strictly follow CDC guidelines to protect against the COVID-19 virus – a commitment that has enabled First Florida Credit Union to safely stay connected to its members and the community throughout the pandemic.
