The League of Southeastern Credit Unions and its affiliated credit unions are bracing for Hurricane Michael.
The league, which is based in Tallahassee, joined many of its credit unions in closing their branches Tuesday around noon and remaining closed through Thursday because of the state of emergency declared for Alabama and Florida, according to a Credit Union Times article.
Hurricane Michael will be the second major hurricane to it the area in 13 months. It was just over a year ago — September 2017 — when Hurricane Irma dumped more than a foot of rain, brought winds of 130 to 142 mph and knocked power out at more than 5.6 million homes and businesses in Florida. Many of the state’s credit unions shut down because of the impact.
