Peach State Federal Credit Union and other community partners will act as sponsors when Walton EMC hosts the Walton County BBQ Festival in Monroe next weekend.
The festival, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 10 at Criswell Park, acts as the annual fundraiser for Communities In Schools of Walton County, a nonprofit dropout prevention program working in partnership with local public schools, according to an article in The Covington News. The organization works one-on-one with more than 300 at-risk students in the area to help them stay in school, graduate and prepare for the future.
Saturday’s fundraiser will include local businesses and organizations competing in an amateur backyard barbecue contest while food vendors will offer a variety of treats. More than 40 craft and merchandise vendors will also sell a variety of jewelry, candles, soaps and boutique items.
“We are so grateful for the support of our sponsors,”Jean Gallman, chairman of the CIS board of directors, said in the Covington News article. “It helps fund the important drop-out prevention work that CIS provides all year long.”
