Wheeled beds will race through Lawrenceville Square on April 21, thanks in part to sponsorship from Peach State Federal Credit Union.
The race raises money for Family Promise’s programs, which are designed to help homeless residents, according to an article in the Gwinnett Daily Post. The organization served 494 people from 280 households last year and more than 5,500 volunteers spent more than 27,000 hours doing work for the group in 2017.
During the race, teams of volunteers from different local organizations will push beds on wheels for 228 yards while a volunteer on the bed steers.
“The bed race is always lot of fun, as we see the creativity teams put into their bed design and their determiniation to win the race,” Family Promise of Gwinnett Director Matt Elder said in a statement.
