The credit union recently presented Macon Regional Crimestoppers with a donation toward the 12th Annual David Pierce Memorial Law Enforcement Dinner. The dinner to be held on May 19 is designed to help partner with law enforcement, community and the media to keep the community safe.

The sate passed a tax bill without a provision it had been considering — a provision that would have increased taxes on the state's credit unions while lowering them for banks.

May 4th, 20180150United 1st Federal Credit Union recently honored a long-time board member's retirement.
The credit union held a dinner at Lang's Maria Restaurant to commemorate Terry Brown's 46-year career.
Brown watched United 1st grow from $14 million in assets serving about 6,500 members to $180 million in assets and serving almost 26,000 members.
He retired from the board of directors in March, having served since 1984.
During that time, he served on the executive committee, the asset liability committee and also he chairman. He was the first chairman to suggest and institute the rotating board officer posts.

May 4th, 2018488The Southeast Cancer Unit has more than $4K to put toward its cause, thanks to the fundraising efforts of United 1st Federal Credit Unions.
United 1st's Blackshear and Waycross staff raised $4,118 they used as sponsorship money for the Southeast Cancer Unit's annual fundraising walk earlier this week.
The credit union staffs raised he money throughout the year via a Valentine basket raffle and t-shirt sales. They rounded out the donation at the fundraising walk by selling ribs, chicken and funnel cakes.

Originally, PFCU promised to award several $2,500 scholarships through it's program — enough to total more than $60,000. But the credit union smashed that goal, distributing 42 scholarships for a total of $105,000.
"We have several members and community organizations that contribute toward the scholarship program to increase the total contributions," Platinum Federal credit Union Chief Executive Officer Kabir Laiwalla said.
