Kinetic Credit Union to help members affected by government shutdown

The only credit union on Fort Benning — Kinetic Credit Union — is poised to help members who might be affected by the government shutdown.

The federal government shut down at midnight Friday into Saturday when the Republican and Democratic parties failed to pass a bill that would fund government spending. Kinetic CU President and CEO Janet Davis said her employees realized that could hurt members employed by the United States government, including military service men and women.

“We understand the great importance that our active duty and civilian members have in supporting our military and government,” Davis said. “We are prepared to assist them during the shutdown and help them financially during the furlough.”

All members affected by the furlough will be able to apply for a personal loan, opt into penalty-free withdrawals on certificates and apply for extensions on current loans. Current members with direct deposit may also be eligible for:

  • Furlough loans with amonts of up to two weeks net pay
  • 0 percent APR for the first 60 days. After 60 days, the rate will be the same as the shared secured loan at that time — currently 4.1 percent APR
  • Term up to 12 months

Members can call 706-320-8575 or visit any full-service Kinetic branch to take advantage of this special service.
