The vernal equinox — which transitions us into the season known for bunnies, cleaning and babies — takes place March 20 at 12:15 p.m. If you’re so beyond ready to kiss winter goodbye, you’re in luck! Two retailers known for sweet treats are offering freebies on March 20 only.
Dairy Queen is offering one free small vanilla ice cream cone per customer visiting their participating non-mall locations. The deal lasts all day, but is limited to one per person. On the same day, DQs will be collecting donations for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Do something sweet while you eat something sweet. The perfect first day of spring celebration!

Rita’s Italian Ice will be holding its 26th annual First Day of Spring Celebration by offering customers a free Italian ice all day March 20. This deal is also social media friendly. The chain encourages customers to post a picture of their free treat with #ritasfirstdayofspring. Again, one per customer.
